Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage can include elements of remedial, Swedish and sports massage and is used to target specific back and limb problems. The massage techniques help the body by increasing blood and lymph circulation to the tissues. This helps the body to release toxins into the circulation where they can be carried out of the body. Doing this relieves muscle tension and alleviates pain. Sports Massage was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports massage emphasises prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons.
Deep tissue massage therapists have comprehensive training in anatomy and physiology and are able to identify which muscles to concentrate their massage on to relieve tension and improve tone.
Regular massage can be an important part of any health regime and helps to alleviate pain and strains caused by old injuries, poor posture and physical tension.
Karl Grimm, Ashleigh Smith, Charlotte Fennell and Joanna Szczudlo are qualified in deep tissue massage and offer sessions at The Carrick Clinic. Karl uses his skills as part of his treatments at The Pain Clinic, the other therapists can be booked for standalone treatments. In addition, Joanna also offers a specialised sciatic massage for people with sciatica and related issues while Charlotte also offers Sports Therapy.
We used to list each of the individual types of deep tissue massage separately but patients found this a bit confusing. So we are now simply offering deep tissue massage and once your therapist has had the chance to speak to you, they will decide whether remedial, Swedish or sports would be more suited to your specific situation. If you already know your preference, feel free to let us know that when you book.
