Sports Therapy

Sports Therapy can help people of any age or ability with relief from pain and tension caused by soft tissue injury, poor posture and repetitive strain. Sports Therapy also helps athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports therapy emphasises prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons and improved performance.

A session can include any of the following techniques:

  • Sports massage
  • Electrotherapy
  • Injury assessment
  • Taping
  • Flexibility training
  • Exercise rehabilitation
  • Ultrasound
  • Hot / cold therapy

If you are an athlete, you can use Sports Therapy at specific times in your event calendar:

  • Pre-event – directed toward the parts of the body that will be involved in the exertion.
  • Post-event – to normalise the body’s tissues and help prevent lactic acid buildup.
  • Restorative massage – during training to allow you to train harder and with less injury.
  • Rehabilitative massage – aimed at alleviating pain due to injury.
